Situated in the heart of East Dulwich, the Centre consists of two halls together with a playground, all available for hire by local people.

AREA OF BENEFIT

The area covered by the EDCC is bounded by Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Road, Peckham Rye, Dunstans Road and Upland Road. It comprises most of the East Dulwich ward together with a part of Peckham Rye ward.

HOW WE WORK

The centre is run by an association, the East Dulwich Community Centre Association (EDCCA) and is run by a management committee comprising representatives from the hirers. Day-to-day management is by our bookings, maintenance and finance officers. We have a friendly, open and professional approach as you will discover the moment you contact us.

We also work in collaboration with many other organisations in the area, such as Christ Church Barry Road, Dulwich Milan and the East Dulwich Society and are always looking for new avenues to explore and services to develop. Please let us know if you have a group or interest that we could help foster.

HISTORY

The Community Centre is on the site of a former chapel and hall that was bombed in the war. After the war the prefabricated building was set up to form 3 class rooms and a playground as an annex to Heber primary school.

It was opened as a Community Centre 1980 as a community hall for three residents' associations that represented the Alleyn Ward. One of these, the Barry Area Residents Association, BARA, still thrives in its initial form.

The East Dulwich Community Centre Association (EDCCA) has taken over the role of running the Centre with BARA as a core member.

The EDCCA is a registered charity: Number 1113395
